Cordoba! Spanish Wall Art Inspired By My Travels

Let me take you on an adventure...

Dreaming Of Cordoba, Spain

Imagine twisty vines & fragrant blooms climbing up trellises, colorful pottery adorning nearly every window seal, setting foot on ancient cobblestone, & the warmth of the sun kissing your shoulders.

Or how about intricate Moorish ruins dating back to 785, with mountain peaks and tall pines encompassing the view. This is Andalusia, the southern tip of Spain. Where on a clear day, you can see the silhouette of Africa across the water.

Gahh. Seriously? Amazing.

When Plans Change

In 2019 we visited Granada, Mijas Pueblo, & Barcelona, Spain for two weeks. To say we were obsessed is an understatement. So in 2020 we promptly made plans to return. We booked our flights and were scheduled to leave March 18th. This time we'd visit more of southern Spain - particularly Cordoba & Seville. Hello culture! Think Flamenco dancing, the Mezquita de Cordoba (google it), the tastiest food, & a beautiful mix of Spanish & Arab culture.

Cities throughout this region are brimming with Unesco World Heritage Sites. The top honor.

If you're not sure where you want to go on your next vacation and love culture - I wholeheartedly recommend taking a look at the list of World Heritage Sites & visiting one. Your travels will never be the same.

In fact in Cordoba - they even have a Unesco World Heritage Event! Every May, villagers decorate their patios & courtyards with the most gorgeous flowers you've ever seen. It's called "Fiesta Of The Patios." Cordoba was also the backdrop of many scenes in Game Of Thrones.

Ahhh to be there. And to experience this amazing part of the world! As you guessed it - plans change. March of 2020 is when the world realized we were in the midst of a global pandemic.

Inspired To Create Spanish Wall Art

I haven't made it back to Spain. But the time I did spend there plus the dream of returning has been inspirational, nonetheless. And daydreaming is fun! I know I'll make it there someday. And that's how my Spanish inspired painting Cordoba was created, from my daydreams. This warm acrylic art piece features pops of orange and red, with soft watercolor throughout. Navy provides contrast and helps the blooms pop! I imagine Cordoba to look like this, to feel like this. The coolness of the mountains mixed with the intense heat and vibrancy of Spain. Cool & sultry. I hope I did Cordoba justice with this art piece. Until next time, I'll do my best to keep painting the things and places that capture my heart.

With love,
